What is a Payment Portal Gateway?

A payment portal gateway directs customers on your webpage to a third-party service. This can be for:

  • Buy-now-pay-later solutions (Afterpay etc)
  • External payment gateways (Paypal etc)
  • Voucher/affiliate websites
  • Customer login portals

If your webpage redirect customers to another website, Insightech will need to recognise this as a single journey. To do so, we will need to set-up 'cross domain tracking' within the platform.

How to Setup your Cross Domain Tracking for Payment Portals in Insightech

Below are the steps to setup tracking for payment portals and gateways:

  1. Navigate to the Settings → Profile section on the platform

  2. Add each domain URL in the domains tab to be included in cross-domain tracking

  3. Click Submit

Once you've saved your list of domains, Insightech will retroactively go through your historical sessions, and automatically update journeys to accurately show their behaviours across all of the domains and portals in your list.

Please note: If you don't have Insightech tracking on an external website or third party portal, you will not be able to see the journey while users are navigating through these environments. You will however be able to see when users click to those portals, and what they do when they return.
